SporePool — Where Failed DAVs Go to Sleep

Death Is Information

When a DAV dies — through dissolution (see 73-dissolution), metabolic failure, or operator ejection — the organism ceases to function. But the organism's accumulated knowledge does not cease to exist.

The SporePool is the intended archive of dead DAV genotypes. Target path: every failed DAV would deposit its genome, its strategies, its Cortex memory, and its dissolution receipt into the SporePool. The information survives even when the organism does not.

What Gets Preserved

When a DAV enters dissolution, the following artifacts are archived:

Cryptobiosis

The biological analog is tardigrade cryptobiosis. Tardigrades (water bears) are microscopic animals that can survive:

  • Temperatures from -272C to +150C
  • Radiation doses 1,000x the lethal human dose
  • The vacuum of space
  • Decades without water

They survive by entering cryptobiosis: expelling all water, replacing it with trehalose glass, and suspending all metabolic activity. They are not dead. They are waiting.

A SporePool genotype is in cryptobiosis. It has no metabolism (no revenue, no agents, no active state). But its genome is intact. Its strategies are preserved. Its knowledge is accessible. It waits for conditions under which it might germinate again.

Germination

A SporePool genotype can germinate — be instantiated as a new DAV — when:

  1. Environmental change: Market conditions shift to favor the DAV's archetype or strategy. A supply-chain DAV that failed during a trade war might germinate when trade normalizes.

  2. New operator proposal: A prospective operator discovers the SporePool entry and stages a fork proposal. The proposal may inherit Cortex knowledge, but constitution or membership adoption establishes genesis and membership only; it does not authorize germination or a later consequence. The germination proposal remains unsigned until at least two natural-person councilors bind the exact consequence in a complete valid bound PRISM decision receipt; PRISM records and verifies only, and deterministic execution is limited to that exact consequence.

  3. Cross-DAV recombination: A living DAV may incorporate strategies or knowledge from a SporePool entry into its own operations. This is horizontal gene transfer — acquiring capabilities from a dead organism without instantiating it.

  4. Improved infrastructure: A Software Organism DAV that failed because SPECTRE was immature at Tier 1 might germinate when Tier 2 (CDN) or Tier 3 (Inference) becomes operational. The genotype was viable; the substrate was not ready.

Germination Is Not Resurrection

A germinated DAV is a new organism, not a continuation of the old one. It receives:

  • A new genesis transaction (new K0 anchor)
  • A new P-score starting at zero
  • A new LP-100 issuance
  • A fresh Soma (self-model)

It inherits:

  • The genome (modified or verbatim)
  • The Cortex knowledge (read-only reference)
  • The strategy archive (for learning, not for replay)

The distinction matters for K4 (Grace Exit). Target design: the old DAV's Grace Exit would be fully executed at dissolution (frozen claim until reconciliation complete). Old holders were paid out. New holders stake into the new organism with fresh terms. There is no claim continuity between the dead DAV and the germinated one.

SporePool Economics

The SporePool has no token. It has no fees. It has no governance. It is designed as a public archive substrate, funded by the one-time cost of the dissolution receipt path.

Anyone can read the SporePool. Anyone can fork a genome. The information is commons. Public-DAV germination is consequential: at least two natural-person councilors must bind the exact germination consequence in a complete valid bound PRISM decision receipt. PRISM records and verifies only; deterministic execution is limited to that exact receipt-bound germination. There is no founder or owner fallback.

Why This Matters

Most DAOs and protocols that fail simply vanish. Their contracts and repositories linger without active stewardship. Their lessons are lost. The next team attempting the same thesis starts from zero.

The SporePool is meant to ensure that failure is cumulative in the same way that success is cumulative. Each dead DAV would add to the ecosystem's collective knowledge. Over time, the SporePool becomes a library of attempted strategies, proven failure modes, and environmental conditions — a resource that makes future DAVs more likely to survive.

Death is not waste. Death is information. The SporePool is how the ecosystem remembers.
