Why Mating, Not Acquisition

Mergers and acquisitions destroy one entity to feed another. DAV mating is biological reproduction: two parents combine genetic material to produce a novel child. Both parents can survive. The child is not a copy of either -- it is a recombination that creates something neither parent could have been alone.

This distinction is not metaphorical. It is implemented in DACGenesis.merge().

Reproduction Threshold

A DAV may only reproduce when:

Both parents must independently satisfy all conditions. There is no exception mechanism.

The Mating Protocol

1. Courtship

Parent A publishes a Mating Signal on the SPECTRE mesh: a declaration of intent containing its genotype (Vision, niche, archetype) and the niche it seeks in a mate. Parent B, monitoring the mesh, evaluates compatibility.

Compatibility is not subjective. It is computed: niche complementarity (different trophic levels), archetype compatibility (different Varna), and P-score correlation (low correlation = high hybrid vigor potential).

2. Mate Selection

Both parents' APU Councils independently deliberate on the proposed mating. The Legal directorate verifies constitutional compatibility (no K-invariant conflicts). The Strategy directorate models the child's projected P-score. Both Councils must return PROCEED.

3. Genetic Recombination

DACGenesis.merge(parentA, parentB) executes:

• Vision recombination: The child's Vision is a new declaration authored jointly. It cannot be a substring of either parent's Vision.
• Organ inheritance: The child inherits organ configurations from both parents. For each organ, one parent's configuration is selected (weighted by that organ's P-score). Crossover points are deterministic, seeded by the merged transaction hash.
• Constitutional intersection: The child inherits the union of both parents' K-invariants. Stricter constraints always win.

4. Shareholder Merge

LP-100 holders of both parents receive proportional shares in the child:

child_shares(holder) = (parent_A_shares * weight_A) + (parent_B_shares * weight_B)

Weights are P-score-weighted market capitalization:

weight_A = (P_A * MCAP_A) / (P_A * MCAP_A + P_B * MCAP_B)

Total child LP-100 supply = 100 (K1 conservation). The merge is proportional, not dilutive.

5. Gestation

The child DAV enters a 30-day gestation period:

• Organs are in GESTATING state (not DORMANT -- they carry inherited configuration).
• The heartbeat runs but no metabolic loop executes.
• Parents provide initial capital (parental investment) via FLOW transfers.
• If either parent's P-score drops below 0.70 during gestation, the child is aborted and capital returns.

6. Birth

After 30 days, if all invariants hold, the child transitions to ACTIVE. It appears in the Phylogenetic Tree as a new species with lineage pointers to both parents.

Parental Survival

Both parents survive by default. A parent may optionally dissolve into the child (donating all remaining LP-100 to child holders), but this is a choice, not a requirement. The typical outcome is three living organisms where there were two.

Hybrid Vigor

The biological principle of heterosis applies: offspring of genetically diverse parents outperform both. In DAV terms, a Circle-dominant parent mating with an APU-dominant parent produces a child with strong perception AND strong decision-making. The genome was not available to either parent alone.

This is why mating exists instead of cloning. Novelty requires recombination. Evolution requires novelty.
